Google has said the Penguin changes you've been seeing, and many of you are seeing recoveries especially recently but those fluctuations and changes should all settle down soon.
Gary Illyes from Google said this morning on Twitter that the Penguin 4.0 roll out that started and the recovery of Penguin 3.0 stage that started last Wednesday is just about done rolling out. He said it is in the "final stage" and "would take a few more days." Once this stage is done, "then it won't be noticeable anymore" he added, saying "it's working" and that is it.
He also added the jumps and changes people are seeing now are just the normal fluctuations that you'd see, as it is rolling out to the datacenters and depending on which data center you hit, you might see Penguin 3.0 vs Penguin 4.0 results.
John also talked about this in the morning hangout on YouTube at the 59:25 minute mark. He said:
It could be a matter of the datacenters and where the data is at the moment. It might be something you are seeing there, especially if you are seeing that type of fluctuations. And usually that means it takes a bit of time to kind of settle down. The other aspect that might be happening there is that maybe they are from the Penguin algorithm itself, it has kind of been loosened up and it is ranking a lot better. But it could mean the other algorithms kind of have to adapt a little bit and shuffle things and understand the new status of the web site or the new status of those kind of search results and see how that should settle down. So sometimes you’d see this immediate jump and some point and then shuffles backs into a more steady state. And that is not necessarily something from our Penguin side but from our various algorithms, that they interpret.
So if you are seeing improvements, hold on for a few more days until it settles down and I am so happy for those of you who are ranking so much better now!
